Computer club Ruut is a club for computer hobbyists studying and working at Lappeenranta Univ. of Technology. Ruut is a suborganization of the student union. Ruut offers IT-services for club members and organizes sauna evenings and excursions.

Ruut, what?
The name of the club is written R-u-u-t (not Root, Pruut etc.)
Ruut is pronounced in Finnish just like root, but doesn't mean the same thing. Actually Ruut is a woman's name.
The hardware
Ruut owns some computers and maintains a couple of Linux-servers:
- Jumi: Dual Intel P-III/1GHz Debian GNU/Linux, 1280 MB RAM, 100BaseT-network, 182 GB disk
- Lumi: Intel P-III/500MHz Debian GNU/Linux, 512 MB RAM, 100BaseT-network, 200 GB disk
- Lame: Intel P-4/1.8Ghz Debian GNU/Linux, 1 GB RAM, 100BaseT-network, 770 GB disk
- Raato: AlphaStation 600 5/266, Debian GNU/Linux
- Rasputin & Uljanov: Sun Ultra 1/170E Creator3D, 167MHz Ultrasparc I, Debian GNU/Linux
- o.lut.fi: Silicon Graphics Onyx 10000 RealityEngine2, IRIX 6.5, 4x 250 Mhz MIPS R4400 with 4 MB secondary cache
